SUMMER 2009

Tom McGrath's LAUREL & HARDY at Jermyn Street Theatre, London: News & Reviews
Firstly we would like to say 'thank you' to the many people - angels, production team, theatre staff, reviewers and audiences - who helped make our production of Tom McGrath's play "Laurel & Hardy" so successful during its recent run at Jermyn Street Theatre. We are still receiving calls from people who missed the production, and even more from those who saw it and want to see it again. We are working towards bringing the production back, although nothing is definite at present. Please email us at info@chalkfoot.org.uk with a contact name, telephone number and address and we WILL get back to you as soon as we have some news.

Meanwhile please read a sample of the many media reviews we received:

“The quirky Jermyn Street Theatre has come up with a good production of Tom McGrath’s bio-play. Neil Bromley and Simon Lloyd are excellent as Stan and Ollie, not just in perfecting their celebrated mannerisms but also in the cascade of scenes they deliver.”
Quentin Letts, Daily Mail  ****

“Incidental music by Julian Ronnie, set and costume design by Phil Newman and deft direction by Philip Dart all ensure that the spirit of Laurel and Hardy still works it's particular brand of magic.”
Giles Cole, What's On Stage ****

“A night of old-fashioned, melancholy fun celebrating the kind of comic chemistry that’s impossible to manufacture”
Sharon Lougher, Metro ****

“Lloyd and Bromley are enchanting as they navigate their way through ... with able direction by Philip Dart, this is an enjoyable evening.”
Jackie Cobham (RSC Journalist Bursary), Daily Telegraph ***

“Chalkfoot’s production of Tom McGrath’s 1976 play features delightful, uncanny performances”
Time Out ***

“This Fringe production has also managed to capture the spirit of the men. You'd almost think that Stan and Ollie were alive again”
Steve Bennett, Chortle
